2016 Aruma, Bodegas Caro, Mendoza, Argentina

Regular price £12.50
ARUMA” means “night” in the language of the Quechua, the native Indian population of the Mendoza region. The name suggests the deep darkness of the nights in the Andes and the very pure mountain air: the wines have the same rich, authentic character as their terroir.

“The 2015 Aruma is still a blend of Malbec grapes from Altamira and Agelo… Its fermented in stainless steel tanks and was bottled unoaked after being kept with the fine lees for some eight months…. It's juicy, fresh and fruit-driven, clean, with some grapey aromas and contained ripeness. The palate is soft and nicely balanced, easy to drink, and ideal with some light foods.” Luis Gutierrez, The Wine Advocate

A joint venture between the Catenas and Rothschild families Bodegas Caro was established in 1993 with the sole aim of producing the most elegant wines in Argentina. Both families have been vignerons since the 19th Century and these two wine dynasty’s have combined their deep knowledge of Mendoza’s high altitude vineyards and the art of winemaking to create a delightful wine. To add to the quality of this estate a safe pair of hands in the shape of Christian le Sommer (from the famous Chateau Latour) has been put in charge of the winemaking. This is South American wine in a revolutionary style!
