Deep coloured with rich brambly fruit, the palate is generous, spicy and soft, with flavours of black cherry and raspberry.

"Carignan was once looked on as a grape for volume but today with careful wine making and old vines it produces wines of quality, wines with autumn hedgerow fruit excitement wild slightly rustic a mix of bramble and rosehips, sloes and wild plums. Sweet and ripe in the middle the tannins are discreet fleshy, velvet smooth, rich fruit yet there is an underlying freshness. The mix of flavours suits pork and duck.." Derek Smedley MW
