Cotswolds Single Malt Whisky Inaugural Release 2017, Cotswold Distillery, England
The first whisky ever distilled in the Cotswolds, it uses 100% locally grown, floor-malted barley and has been aged in first-fill ex-Bourbon barrels and reconditioned red wine casks. Rich, fruity and shippable. 46% ABV.
Liquid Gold 95 Points, Jim Murray's Whisky Bible 2018.
Notes of honey and butterscotch layered with light fruits (peaches & apricots), a hint of marzipan. On the palate there are strong notes of tannin-rich malt, oils and dark sugar with lots of spice, and caramelised Seville orange marmalade. Long and resinous, with dark red fruits and a hint of treacle. Glorious!
