2019 Les Vignes de Bila-Haut Cotes-du-Roussillon Villages, M.Chapoutier, Languedoc-Roussillon, France
Ripe and fleshy, a well-structured red full of black cherry notes, reflecting the warm and savage soils of the Roussillon area. Syrah, Grenache and Carignan are hand-harvested and macerated for 2 - 4 months before blending and maturing in large vats.
50% Syrah, 10% Cariñena, 40% Garnacha.
"Michel Chapoutier's Roussillon outpost is a worthy extension to his Rhône Valley operations. The emphasis is on the same varieties—Grenache and Syrah, in varying proportions depending on the terroir—and overall quality is very good." Joe Czerwinski, The Wine Advocate.
