2018 'la Combe Verte' Pinot Noir, Walter Scott, Oregon, USA
Walter Scott Wines was founded in 2008 by Ken Pahlow and Erica Landon, and their first vintage of the La Combe Verte Pinot Noir was produced in 2009. Their focus is on small production Pinot and Chardonnay. The grapes for this wonderful wine are sourced from a vineyard with volcanic clay & stony soils. The resulting wine gets 10 months of oak aging and the resulting flavours are of wild berries, mushroom, & forest floor, with hints of savory baking spice on the long and glorious finish. Immediately appealing for early drinking, but layered with power and structure giving this wine the ability to age well.
