2017 Vouvray Cuvee de Silex, Domaine de Aubuisieres, Loire, France
A beautiful light/ medium-bodied dry Chenin Blanc. Crisp with a lovely mineral character balanced with the hints of honey, lemon & juicy apple fruit flavours.
13% ABV. Perfect with lots of food - perhaps particularly with shellfish, chicken, Asian dishes, Tagines and pasta with a creamy sauce.
"Lean and mineral on the nose with fresh lemon juice, cooked apple and a bit of sweet spice and honey on the finish. Dry and balanced." Jancis Robinson
Bernard Fouquet has 26 hectares planted on the best soils. and is making some of the most serious Vouvray you'll find these days. He perfectly captures the mineral tones unique to Vouvray’s soil, with the marvelous balance of explosive fruit and tingling sensation of the Chenin grape.
'Bernard Fouquet—formerly recorded under the name Domaine des Aubuisières—is a top producer in Vouvray and offers some of the most fascinating modern Chenin Blancs that I have tasted. The wines combine purity and finesse with a round and fruity juiciness, which give them a rather round and charming, but also refined character. Sourced from 30 hectares of vines on two main different soil types (clay and limestone; silty clay soils), these dry or medium-dry wines are fermented with natural yeasts in both stainless steel and temperature-controlled oak vats.'
