2017 The Banker, Fibonacci, Artisan Collection, Snow Mountain, Coastal Region, South Africa
The Banker, Fibonacci, is a wine blended from 5 varieties - a blend of 55% Cabernet Franc, 21% Merlot, 13% Cabernet Sauvignon, 8% Petit Verdot and 3% Malbec. Time spent in new French oak has allowed this wine to develop soft round tannins and maintain its fruit balance. 14.5% ABV.
Named after the brilliant mathematician, Fibonacci, responsible for discovering the natural code of proportion and sequence of numbers used in the architecture of many ancient and modern buildings that respect natural proportion. This sequence of numbers has also become important in predicting the movement of financial markets and can be represented by the number 1.618.
The stunning Artisan Collection from the Snow Mountain Wines is a series of very small-batch wines made by James McKenzie, former banker and the man behind the resuscitation of the vineyard in Wellington in the mid-2000s.
