2016 Sauvignon Blanc Reserva, Julio Bouchon, Maule Valley, Chile
Enticing aromas of citrus fruit, notably grapefruit, alongside some tropical fruit. The palate is fresh, with lovely depth of flavour and perfect balance.
Bouchon settled in the Colchagua Valley in Chile from his native Saint Emilion in Bordeaux. Today Julio Bouchon senior and his children continue this long tradition of winemaking.
The vineyards are located in the dry coastal region of the Maule Valley in the Santa Maria Mingre, Santa Rosa, Las Mercedes and Batuco estates with 370 hectares in total, with some vines more than 60 years old. The Maule valley has a superb climate and terroir and helps Bouchon to produce expressive, pure and terroir-driven wines that are excellent value for money.
J. Bouchon is a huge believer in sustainability and as such, is a member of the Wines of Chile program, which has developed the sustainability National Code, the Chilean Wine Standard Certification and GRI (Global Report Initiative) Reports. At the same time they have developed their own specific initiative for being more sustainable on a day-to-day basis: for example using eco bottles for the Reserva wines and using grape skins and seeds as compost in their vineyards.
