Greyfriars was originally planted in 1989 and has been producing quality grapes and wines for over 20 years. Mike and Hilary Wagstaff took over in 2010 with the aim of expanding, and investing in, the vineyard.

In total they have planted over 40 acres of new vines, predominantly the three classical Champagne grape varieties: Chardonnay; Pinot Noir; and Pinot Meunier.

Their aim is to create a small range of spectacular English sparkling wines that truly reflect the unique local soil conditions, climate and heritage of the Surrey North Downs - an area that is blessed with similar geological and soil conditions to that of the Champagne region in France (not to mention the same temperamental and challenging weather!).

Their success with lots of awards since is proof positive that things have progressed perfectly.
