2012 The Jewel Box, Silverthorn Vineyards, Western Cape, South Africa
The aim with the Jewel Box was to create a wine with the emphasis on richness, opulence and complexity. Their inspiration for this wine were the fabulous Champagnes of Krug and Bollinger.
The nose has complex aromas of roasted almonds, marzipan and subtle hints of strawberry and cherry compote followed by zesty citrus nuances. The palate is dry, rich and full with a soft and toasty creaminess, complemented by the depth of flavour.
Versatile with lots of various food dishes - those with lots of deep and rich flavour. Try with wild mushroom risotto - amazing!
The Jewel Box is a blend of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir and matured for 47 months in the bottle.
The winemaker, and owner of Silverthorn, John Loubser is a member of the esteemed Cape Winemakers Guild.
As only 3,300 bottles were produced of this wine - it is very much offered subject to availability!
