2014 Enira, Bessa Valley, Bulgaria
Beautiful garnet red color. The nose is intense, complex and beautiful. Fragrances of dried fruits, leather, smoke and vanilla are found. Unique flavor profile, excellent structure built from soft tannins resulting from aging in French oak barrels. The wine is very well balanced with a long memorable finish.
Merlot: 31%/ Syrah: 48% / Cabernet Sauvignon: 2% / Petit Verdot: 19%
"Well, cheap Bulgarian wine," I think I can say that they will exceed expectations." Mark Squires, The WIne Advocate
Bordered on the south by the Rhodope Mountains, the grapes are grown on clay-limestone soils that provide power and structure, but also acidity and minerality to the wines. The wonderfully titled winemaker Count Stephan von Neipperg, owner of La Mondotte and Clos de l'Oratoire amongst other Bordeaux Châteaux, brings his skill and care to craft wines that reflect this wonderful place.
Food recommendation - a sumptuous accompaniment to roast beef or game.
